New Truck!

IMG_2403

Truck Shopping starts, Day 1, Day 2, FINISHED

Cassie and I have been looking at trucks for a while now online, we decided it would be best to get one nice truck to haul stuff, for Cassie to drive and keep my car for good gas mielage, we just haven't went out to drive one until last Thursday. The town of Salina was a little flooded and had a water main break, there was no water, so school was out. I couldn't take a shower so I worked on the house for a while and then called into work to take the day off. We have been talking about going to look for cell phones and trucks and we finally got a free day and went! We went and looked at Roberts Auto used cars, we really only found one we liked, a black 2007 Chevy 4door 4X4, it has black leather and nice wheels, I drove it and liked it a LOT. It was priced for 31K, a little more than I would want to pay, so we drove away thinking about it. We went to Thomas's for dinner and started driving home towards Salina. At one of the banks in Pryor there has been a Lincoln Mark LT pickup sitting on the lot for about a week. I've seen it and thought it was a really nice truck... but that night it had a For Sale sign in the window! I called about it with no answer... On my way to work Friday morning I called again and talked to the banker! I went back to look at it and it has been repocessed from a lawyer that had died. He had it priced at loan value (in Our budget and a REALLY good deal!), I walked around it a couple times and told him I was 99% SURE we would take it! I went in to look at the paperwork and seen the bankers name on the desk, it was my cousin Gary Shamel, He told me the truck was Mine and he wouldn't sell it! We went back Monday evening and within an hour we were driving Our New truck away! I never dreamed we would find a truck this nice this fast, I think God had it picked out just for US! Here's some more info and pics:

HOUSE

We were ready to start siding:

We still didn't have a window though, just boards and a hole in the wall... I priced one to fit and it was around $450. I almost ordered it

 IMG_2361.JPG

Our neighbor built two new duplexes in Salina and we really liked his windows, we asked him where he had bought them and it so happened that he had several "left over"... This arch window was the closest thing he had to fit and he GAVE it to us! He owed us a little money for borrowning electric and water while he was waiting for his to be turned on, he wouldn't take any money and we called it even!

This window was a Blessing from God!

IMG_2368.JPG

I like it more every day!

IMG_2366.JPG

I replaced all the old warped boards on the siding and We put 3/4" styrofoam around the house, it should make it a Lot quieter

CJ workin Hard! As always

IMG_2363.JPG

Cassie picked yellow siding, we kinda wanted black trim but couldn't get it, so white it is... Its Wildcat colors! I like it, and I know its good for resale value

IMG_2384.JPG

The hardest part so far was siding around the electrical boxes and arch window!

IMG_2378.JPG

Still the same house?? It still has a ways to go, all the green will be gone and there will be 4" of white trim around all the windows

IMG_2379.JPG

All of the front was finished!

IMG_2383.JPG

We bought a slave from Salina FFA, he helped all day

IMG_2364.JPG

I know we were busy enough with the siding, but I decided to tear all the tile out of the bathroom and bring it down to the studs...

New Roof...

The roof is done! Estate Gray Shingles, Oakridge-Pro-Estate Gray  a roofer from salina did most of the work and I helped a couple days. I had to replace several of the planks on the roof, i'm glad I know exactly what's under there and every inch is solid. He also has experience with siding, I am going to buy all the siding tomorrow and hopefully do most of it over the next week.

The roof half finished

Dad and I worked on the house most of the day saturday, we hung the door and windows. That door took 3 hours!! to hang

Finished Roof!

Next Update will hopefully be of some siding going up??? and maybe sheetrock soon. We're going to cover the house with a layer of R-Board insulation before putting siding up, it should be easier to heat and cool. I think we have the siding color narrowed down and deciding on trim.

Roof and Shoguns

Just a quick weekday update on the house:

I got all the stuff for the roof Wednesday after my dentist appointment; shingles, paper, nails, flashing... Yesterday on my lunch break I picked up some siding samples at Sooner Wholesale siding in Tulsa. Cassie started looking through the samples to pick colors, hopefully we can do most of the siding on the weekend of spring break. This is what our house looked like this morning when I left:

The food was good, the service was Great, but having Cassie for my Date was the BEST! We always seem to have a good time wherever we go, no matter what were doing. 99 Days and WE will be Married!
